Is it going to bring about stability?

Freelancing may not suit everyone. It needs patience and self-discipline. Before diving into this article, make a promise to yourself: no matter what, I will not give up.

I am going to share tips on how to become a freelancer with no experience in 2025, drawing from my experience.

Freelancers are…

A freelancer is an individual who earns money by offering services based on skills or education.

Freelancing has many benefits.

  1. Privilege to choose projects
  2. Work from anywhere
  3. Work at your own pace

In simple words, you are the boss.

Your Ultimate 2025 Blueprint: How to Start Freelancing with No Experience in 2025

Step 1: Identify Your Skills

Get a pen and paper, and take some time to think about whatever you are good at or what interests you. Once you’re done determining the skills you will offer, consider whether you’ll be a generalist or a specialist in your niche. For example, if you want to be a social media manager, do you want to manage all social media channels or one?

For example, if you want to be a social media manager, do you want to manage all social media channels or one?

Take your time on this step. It is the most important step of your freelancing career. You should choose skills you will enjoy, not ones that are popular or seem lucrative.

I started as a biology content writer since it was my subject. But I soon quit because I wasn’t enjoying it.

Step 2: Learn and Refine Your Skills

Once you decide on the kind of service you want to provide, the next step is to learn the skill. If you’re on a tight budget, use YouTube to learn. Otherwise, consider paid courses with mentorship.

Avoid schemes that promise guaranteed jobs or clients; they are unreliable. Remember, no one will hand you success. You’ll need to work hard.

If you don’t have clients, use AI websites to practice.

How to Use AI Websites

  • Visit: Fakeclients.com
  • Select your skills, such as writing, graphic design, etc.
  • After your selection, the site will generate a brief from a fake client. It will outline the type of project or article they want. This allows you to practice your skills in a real-world context.

Step 3: Build a Portfolio

For the freelancer, a portfolio is everything. After all, based on your portfolio, clients decide whether to hire you or not. As a beginner, creating a portfolio can be quite challenging.

Let me share how I built mine.

I started as a content writer, so the first thing I did was write sample articles. Then, I went to websites like Internshala to find internships, which greatly helped me in building my portfolio.  ( I will share more websites with you where you can find part-time jobs or internships.)

On InternShala, you’ll find many free internships but try to ensure they last no longer than a month (and never pay for a job opportunity).

Step 4: Create a Portfolio Website

If you are serious about your freelancing career, create a portfolio website. You can build your portfolio website on WordPress or Blogger. This will help establish trust with clients and make it easier for them to communicate with you.

Step 5: Finding Clients

This is the most difficult task when you’re a beginner, but you don’t need to panic or give up. All the successful freelancers you see today probably struggled a lot in the beginning,

Tips to find clients

  • Join Facebook communities: As a beginner, there’s a high chance of encountering scams, so be very cautious about sharing personal details, especially government IDs or bank details, and avoid clicking on any suspicious links. Communicate with potential clients via Messenger, and take the time to understand their business. As a beginner, it’s normal to feel excited and worried about losing a client, but don’t make the mistake of rushing. Be patient, and avoid sharing your portfolio right away. Only share it when you’re confident that you understand the project and can provide valuable input.
  • Use Instagram: Message companies related to your niche on Instagram. For example, if you build websites, study potential clients’ websites to identify any issues, mention those issues, explain how they might be affecting their business, and then share how you can help.
  • Networking: Reach out to relatives, friends, or local stores and offer your services at a free or discounted rate.
  • Own community: Start your community by posting on Instagram or Facebook about shows or topics you’re passionate about, and engage with people. This can also lead to potential clients.
  • Freelancing platforms: When you are confident in your skills, register on sites like Fiverr and Upwork.
  •  If there is a fair or expo happening in your area, make sure to attend and distribute your business cards.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Can I offer multiple services?

Yes, you can! But, as a beginner, it’s best to focus on mastering one skill first. Once you gain experience and confidence, you can expand and offer more services.

As a beginner, I don’t know how to communicate with clients. What should I do?

One of the best ways to learn is to create a Fiverr or Upwork account and approach freelancers in your niche as a client. Invest a little money, observe how they communicate, and see how they provide services. Trust me, this will help you understand effective client communication.

I’ve heard that cold emailing and calling are great ways to find clients. Should I try this?

You can try cold emailing and calling. But, it can be time-consuming and discouraging. As a beginner, it’s often better to focus on other areas like building your skills and portfolio.

Conclusion

Here, I’ve tried to cover all the essentials on how to start freelancing as a beginner in 2025. Consider exploring other strategies, as one approach might work well for some but not for others.

Logo Creation

For the actual logo creation, I use Photoshop Illustrator, which provides me with great flexibility and precision.

Unlocking Success: Your Comprehensive Guide to SEO

Content is the most important thing in this era where online presence is a must to create an opportunity.

But, there are thousands of content present online. How can anyone make their content win in the competition?

SEO is the answer.

SEO? What is this?

Let’s introduce it and dive into the process.

SEO

What Is SEO?

SEO is a process that helps a content/website achieve a higher rank in any search engine ( Google, Yahoo, etc.)

This is a process where you optimize online content in such a way that a search engine like google places it on the top of a page when someone searches for that type of content.

SEO is different from paid advertisements as it works organically. You don’t have to pay for this.

Let’s discuss with an example-

When you search ‘Best places to visit in Delhi’ on the Google search bar, you get so many search results. Some pieces of content among them take place on the first page and some of them can’t make it to the first page.

Those contents that appear in the higher rank are SEO friendly. They are well-optimized and as a result, they rank higher on google.

Importance of SEO

The majority of internet users prefer Google to search for anything and 70% of them don’t scroll beyond the first page of Google.

There are hundreds of results for any topic.

In this competition, if you want your content to stand out, you have to use SEO.

SEO can assist you to improve the engagement of your website. Making any content SEO-friendly helps a search engine to find it out easily and give more eyeballs.

ON-Page and Off-Page SEO

We can do the optimization using two paths- On-page and Off-page SEO.

On-page SEO contains-

  • Making quality content.
  • Including relevant keywords
  • Using keyword-rich metatags
  • Regularity in creating/writing content

       Off-page SEO contains-

  • Optimizing a website itself
  • Creating and developing backlinks
  • Creating content that can get shares

SEO Marketing

SEO is not a one-and-done process. It takes heaps of time and action to stand out. It requires daily actions to get deep-rooted and long-term success.

Let’s understand the process and elements of SEO marketing.

Making Great Content

Bill Gates predicted in 1996 that- “ Content is king”.

Today this is the most appropriate thing ever.

Producing valuable and great content is the first step toward performing well in SEO marketing.

Here are some elements that enhance the possibility to rank higher.

  • Quality-  The content you write should add value to your readers. Better quality content is more likely to rank better.

Eliminate all grammatical errors and make the content free from plagiarism.

In the era of competition in content creation, you have to research what your competitors are doing and simply add more value and make it more approachable.

  • Intent- You have to study the intent of a searcher when he/she searches for something.

If anyone is searching for ‘ Benefits of having black coffee’ and your content ( that contains the same keywords) ends up with the process of making black coffee, the reader will leave your site as soon as the content can’t fulfill their intent.

The right answer for every single query is what a search engine craves for.

  • Freshness- Keeping your content fresh and up-to-date helps with Google ranking. Incorporating new statistics, and renovating old and broken links are some great methods to show Google your content is still eligible to rank higher.

Keyword Research

The term ‘keyword’ represents what your content is all about.

It becomes easy to incorporate keywords if you know what terms your target audiences use to find a content/website that resembles yours. This process is known as keyword research.

After doing keyword research you can optimize your content accordingly.

I have a list of tools that you can use for keyword research.

  • Google Keyword Planner
  • Google Search Console
  • Ubersuggest
  • Semrush
  • KWfinder
  • Ahrefs
  • Serpstat
  • WordStream
  • TubeBuddy
  • Keyworddit
  • QuestionDB
  • AnswerThePublic

Here are some tips to select the best keyword-

  1. Rather than doing research manually, use keyword research tools. That will be more effective.
  1. Google always wants to match the intent. You have to understand the intent first. If your target audiences are buyers, your content should sell something. Answering a question will target the readers, not the buyers.
  1. To know the best keywords of your niche, spy on some websites that rank higher in the same niche. Don’t copy them but take inspiration. You can copy their URL and paste it into a keyword research tool to get the highest performing keywords and use them accordingly to optimize your content.

Site HTML

The HTML of your site is an important part of the SEO game.

Optimizing the elements of HTML assists in achieving a higher google ranking.

  • Title tags are the blue/purple-colored headings that come first when a searcher searches for any content. Making it appealing and keyword-rich helps the content get more eyeballs.
  • The meta description is the area below the title tag that should contain information that attracts the reader to read the full article.
  • You also have to optimize the schema, subheadings, URL slug, etc in order to rank higher on a search engine.

Trustworthiness

Building trust is a much-needed element to create an impact on a search engine.

Here are some guidelines you can follow-

  • Take inspiration from your competitors but don’t ever steal their creations and claim them as yours. Having plagiarism destroys the trust.
  • Optimization has its limits too. Don’t make it over-optimized by stuffing keywords.
  • Reposting the same content on a big platform (for example- Medium) hurts the ranking. As  Medium is the more authoritative domain, Google will index the medium article first.
  • Using ‘HTTPS’ in your URL helps to build trust. It increases security and safety as well.

Building Backlinks

Building links in the right way is one of the major factors that accelerate gaining a higher Google ranking. Following the right tactics will bring long-term engagement.

How to do this?

Well, you have to keep your eyes on some important factors in building backlinks.

  • The quality of the links matters over the number of links. A backlink should refer to a right and valuable resource.
  • Instead of taking shortcuts, invest time and pitch yourself to a site telling them about the value you can add to their website.
  • Remove broken, spammy, unnecessary links and keep the content fresh. Google offers the ‘Disavow tool’ to remove such links.

EAT Guideline

Google has a guideline to evaluate any content- the EAT guideline.

  • Expertise
  • Authority
  • Trustworthiness

These are the three parameters of EAT Guideline to judge any content.

Doing required research, making content that satisfies the reader, fulfilling the searcher’s need, and doing everything in a legit way can make your content stand out in the parameters.

Search Engine Algorithm

Any search engine implements an operation to rank a website. This is called the algorithm.

The algorithm keeps changing. Hence, sometimes it seems impossible to rank higher.

In this situation, giving too much attention to the algorithm is a waste of time. Rather you should focus on your content and leave the rest in the hands of time.

Still, need some help?

Here are some bonus materials (tools) to help you.

  1. seositecheckup – Free tool for website audit.
  1. buzzsumo- For content research
  1. search-console- To measure the traffic on your site
  1. Grammarly- For grammatical-error-free content and check the plagiarism ( both free and paid version is available)
  1. Trends.google.com – Predicts the popularity of a search term
  1. quora – For long-tail keyword research and searching for content.
  1. pagespeed- To make your website fast and bugs-free.

What now?

Learn SEO, practice it, implement the skill and be an SEO expert.

Here are the ten benefits of being a freelancer in 2024

1. Adjustable working hours

Your mornings can be enriched with better things rather than having an incomplete breakfast and chasing a local train just to reach the office on time.

As a freelancer, you don’t need a fixed working time. You have the freedom to choose your working hours.

Isn’t it exciting? Of course, it is!

The freedom to set your own working hours is way more attractive than working at someone else’s selected particular time.

If you don’t have the mood to work on a Monday; you don’t have to. You can complete the work on a sunday instead.

 The choice is yours.

2. Flexible workplaces

Imagine you are sick and are not in a position to go to the office. You are pleading to your boss for a work-from-home opportunity and he/she declined.

Disgusting. Isn’t it?

Well, in freelancing, you can work from your bed in your comfort clothes. Yeah, It’s that comfortable!

As most of the freelancing works are done online, and you are not obligated to any company or a boss, you can choose to live anywhere and even travel when working.

3. Decide your worth and earn more

You don’t have to ask anyone for an increment. Here you’ve got the liberty to set your worth according to your skillset.

In freelancing, expertise is more valuable than experience.

If you offer high-quality services, your payment will be high as well.

The more you upskill, the more you earn.

Freelancers nowadays, earn more than a lac per month using their skillset.

Clients would love to pay you more if you bring value to the table and enhance the charm of their business.

4. Save a lot of time and money

Time and money are the key things to living a life. Right?

Well, freelancing can save both.

Less work, more free time and fewer expenses, more income are what we want.

Due to flexible working times, you can find time for your hobbies, spend quality time with loved ones, upskill yourself to be able to offer more value in your services, and whatnot.

As you don’t have to travel every day and spend a whole day outside, it saves a lot of money too.

What can be more beneficial than this?

5. Easy to start

Getting a corporate job is soul-sucking. Preparations, applications, interviews, and rejections will make you feel miserable. Also, there are certain criteria like age, work experience, academic credentials, etc. to get a job.

Freelancing is free from any criteria. Age, gender, lesser academic degree, disability, nothing can stop you from being a successful freelancer.

Some successful freelancers are as young as 18 and some are in their 60s too.

A smartphone or a laptop, good network connectivity, profitable skill to serve, and a growth mindset are all you need to get started.

6. Learn, earn and grow

Freelancing is not a job. It’s a lifestyle.

There are a plenty of opportunities to learn, earn and grow every day.

Freelancing involves continual learning and unstoppable growth.

As a freelancer, you have to work with multiple clients on various projects. Each project you take serves something new to the table and enriches your skillset.

Skills like writing, editing, time management, accounting, communication, and marketing will grow you as a person, lift you to a growth mindset, make your services more valuable, and give you boundless opportunities to earn.

7. Exposure to international clients

Do you know what the most exciting part of freelancing is? It’s the opportunity to collaborate with clients worldwide.

Yes. You heard that right!

The Internet has given us the privilege to represent ourselves as a brand and access the global market. For a freelancer, the geographical barrier is no longer an issue.

You can serve clients across the globe, make a decent income, build a strong reputation, and grab better opportunities in the future.

8. Pandemics can’t make you jobless

We, who have survived the Covid-19 pandemic, know how hard the time was.

Industries were closed, offline businesses were shut down, and so many people lost their jobs. Expenses became sky-kissing where income sources were blocked.

But you are not supposed to fall into this type of situation if you are heading towards freelancing.

Freelancing is online work and most things happen virtually. So, you can have a secure and decent income even if there is a pandemic situation outside.

9. You can live a healthy life

Balancing your mental and physical health along with a full-time job- is this seems impossible?

Well, most people kill their mental and physical health for a job that can replace him/her if he/she can’t meet the boss’s expectations.

This is the worst thing you can do to yourself.

Stop. Do listen to the most valuable benefit of freelancing.

You can have a yoga session after waking up, a healthy and peaceful breakfast,  a wonderful evening listening to songs and reading your favorite book, and still have a legit and decent income.

Yes, my friend.

Freelancing can give you financial stability without draining your mental and physical health.

10. You are your own boss

This particular benefit represents freelancing as a whole.

Here, you are your own boss. You are the one who makes a decision and takes action. There is no manager or supervisor to control you.

You can make your working schedule based on whether you are an early bird or a night owl. You have control over everything related to your work.

You can take a day off or can have a vacation whenever you want without giving any explanation to anyone.

From choosing the right time and place for work to having the full credit that you deserve; freelancing will make your life better and more meaningful.

You, as a freelancer, will not work for clients. You’ll work with them. your self-esteem will be intact.

So, what are you thinking about? Build a skill, execute it, start freelancing, and represent yourself as a self-employed and self-made person.

Don’t hope for an opportunity. Create one.
